How To Become a Master At Photography

Shot with a digital point-and-shoot camera some 8-9 years ago.
It was a pain to carry around, but I'm glad that I did.

Ok, I'm letting the secret out of the bag. After this secret, you won't ever have to read my blog again (just kidding,  please keep reading). Are you ready? Here it is: take your camera with you everywhere. That's it. Not impressed? Let me explain a little.

By taking a camera with you everywhere, you have the opportunity to use it all the time. It allows you to always consider visually what is before you and to capitalize on your ideas. In a lot of ways, many of us do this with our smartphone. While I think that this is the beginning, photography with your smartphone only exercises your creative muscle with that particular camera. If you want to learn how to use your camera better, then you MUST, MUST, MUST take it with you everywhere. I sometimes wonder why my parents and grandparents were lousy (sorry, I still l love you all) photographers. The reason was because they only dusted off their cameras for special holidays and events. They never learned how to use their equipment, and they had to re-learn it 3 or 4 times a year.

It may sound like a pain to carry a dslr or another camera other than your smartphone with you everywhere, but if you really want to master it and continue to improve your skills, you will need to develop this habit and take pictures every day.
