Shadows

In photography, light is king. Many people have a tendency to overlook the lighting, and this can be a negative thing in terms of creating better images.
However, sometimes we also fail to notice shadows. For many things, shadows are just as important as light. Shadows help define our subjects and give them dimension. Sometimes shadows can help create a mood, or even be a subject all to themselves. Shadows are dramatically affected by the intensity and direction of light.
Shadows are also important when taking portraits. Shadows can help create slimmer profiles and hide imperfections for your subjects. Starting this week, take care to notice not just the light, but the shadows as well.
